Home Burglary on Ireleand

A home burglary occurred mid day today 10/7 on Ireland near the Park Entrance was made through the backyard wood fence from the alley and through the rear sliding glass door. Electronics and jewelry were taken and the house was ransacked

If anyone saw a suspicious vehicle or person in the area near the park midday please contact your street coordinator or the Irving Police department immediately!

Be Aware, More home burglary attempts may occur in the area so we need to be aware of any strange circumstances or contacts with door to door sales and solicitations. If this happens to you get as much information about the person or vehicle as possible and call the police immediately.

Mandatory Watering Restrictions

CITY OF IRVING ANNOUNCES MANDATORY WATERING RESTRICTIONS

Beginning Aug. 11
· Even-numbered addresses may water on Tuesday and Saturday

· Odd-numbered addresses may water on Wednesday and Sunday

· No irrigation may occur on Monday, Thursday or Friday

· No irrigation may occur between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. on any day.

Peanut Butter on the Playground

Heads up neighbors. Somebody put peanut butter on the playground equipment at the park (swings, slide, climbing wall). I have called the city, and they have submitted a work order. I just did’t want anyone else’s child to need an unexpected bath!

Traffic / Road Construction Updates

ROAD CLOSING ADVISORY – STATE HIGHWAY 183 EASTBOUND FRONTAGE ROAD (EBFR) – STORY ROAD TO WILLIAM BREWSTER

Please be advised that TxDOT will be closing the State Highway 183 Eastbound Frontage Road to traffic between Story Road and William Brewster beginning Monday, June 20, 2011 at 9:00 pm. This closure is estimated to last until March 2012, weather permitting.

This road closure is necessary for utility, drainage, paving and sound wall construction for the State Highway 183 Sound Wall & Frontage Road construction project. The work is being performed by TxDOT’s contractor, Zachry Construction Corp.

The S.H. 183 Eastbound Frontage Road (EBFR) detour will be: S.H. 183 EBFR to Story Road, Story Road to Grauwyler Road, Grauwyler Road to MacArthur Boulevard, MacArthur Boulevard to S.H. 183 EBFR. Access to the A-Max Auto Insurance (2326 W. Airport Freeway) and Exxon gas station (2330 W. Airport Freeway) on the SE corner of Story Road/S.H. 183 will be maintained from Story Road. Access to Jaycee Park will be maintained from Puritan Drive. Access to Plymouth Park Church of Christ (1710 W. Airport Freeway) and Toyota of Irving Pre-Owned Car Center (1700 W. Airport Freeway) will be maintained from a newly relocated MacArthur Boulevard exit ramp of Eastbound S.H. 183.

The detour for Southbound Story Road to Eastbound S.H. 183 traffic will be: Story Road to Rochelle Road, Rochelle Road to MacArthur Boulevard, MacArthur Boulevard to Eastbound S.H. 183.

Traffic Switch Scheduled for SH 114 in Las Colinas This Weekend

Exit and entrance ramps to Rochelle/Riverside as well as eastbound mainlanes will be closed

IRVING – Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will close the eastbound SH 114 entrance ramp just east of Rochelle/Riverside in preparation for the traffic switch scheduled to take place this weekend. Beginning Saturday, June 18 at 7 a.m. eastbound SH 114 mainlanes will be closed so crews can complete paving necessary for the traffic switch. East and westbound SH 114 traffic is expected to be shifted onto the newly constructed pavement by Monday, June 20 at 6 a.m. The closures and inconvenience are necessary to ensure the safety of the traveling public as well contractor crews.

Wednesday, June 15, 9 p.m.:

CLOSURE – Eastbound SH 114 entrance ramp just east of Rochelle/Riverside: Beginning Wednesday, June 15 at 9 p.m., through Monday, June 20 at 6 a.m.

DETOUR: Motorists will stay on the frontage road and enter SH 114 east of Loop 12.

 

Saturday, June 18, 7 a.m.:

CLOSURE – Eastbound SH 114 mainlanes between Rochelle/Riverside and Loop 12: Beginning Saturday, June 18 at 7 a.m., through Monday, June 20 at 6 a.m..

o DETOUR: Motorists wanting to enter SH 114 between Rochelle/Riverside will continue eastbound on the frontage road and re-enter SH 114 east of Loop 12

 

CLOSURE – Westbound SH 114 exit ramp to Rochelle/Riverside:

Beginning Saturday, June 18, through February 2012

o DETOUR: Motorists wanting to exit from SH 114 to Rochelle/Riverside will take the O’Conner Road exit, turn left under the highway and re-enter the highway eastbound, and then take the exit to Riverside/Rochelle.

The westbound exit ramp from SH 114 to Rochelle/Riverside will be closed during construction of the new westbound mainlanes and exit ramp.

Portable message signs have been in place to inform motorists of the closures.

This construction is part of the $224 million project to reconstruct the Loop 12/SH 114 interchange. The consortium of Zachry Construction Corp. and Mario Sinacola and Sons began work on the project in February of 2009. The estimated completion date for this project is spring 2013.

The project includes widening Loop 12 to eight lanes and adding direct connection ramps from SH 114 to Loop 12 to improve traffic flow and increase capacity in that area.

TxDOT encourages motorists to be alert and observe all warning and detour signs in place during this time as crews work diligently to complete this work as soon and safely as possible.

Storm Damage

Weather Tiff nailed it – we appreciate her diligence in updating us. Big hail and reports of a tornado touchdown near by. Power off in most of the neighborhood – power line down at W Newton & Scotland. Oncor estimates service to be back by midnight. Hope they are right. Please let us know if you or anyone you know need anything.

Missing Elderly Alert

Local neighbors: got my first emergency message from Irvings iALERT system – Missing elderly: 84yo hispanic female wearing pink floral dress with black sweater and black shoes. She was last seen walking near Britain and 183. Call Irving police if you’ve seen her.

Select “Irving Neighborhood Watch”, enter your email address, and click “Sign Me Up!”

You should get a confirmation email and then every morning a summary of reported crimes for the past 24 hours from the Irving PD.

Cold Weather

Cold weather on the way! Remember to wrap your pipes, cover your favorite plants and keep faucets dripping (both hot and cold).

Last winter a friend left his faucets dripping, but ony the cold water side. He ended up with broken water pipes that were for the hot water.

West Irving Aquatic Center Grand Opening

New and larger aquatic center
The Irving community is invited to the dedication of the new West Irving Aquatic Center at 10 a.m. June 12. There will be no admission charge on opening day. The center, located at 3701 Conflans Road, will offer enhanced aquatic operations and a variety of amenities with an emphasis on family activities.

Relocating existing services and increasing number of visitors
The City of Irving is relocating the Northwest and Southwest pool operations to the new center. The location offers twice the amount of surface water than the Northwest and Southwest pools combined, and is expected to attract five times the customers of the Northwest and Southwest facilities.

Better amenities
Aquatic center features include:
~Zero-depth entry splash pool with a water playground
~Several spray jets and a current channel
~Four-lane lap pool with a rock climbing wall, waterfall and wet deck
~Shaded toddler pool with zero-depth entry, small fountain and water slides
~Large bath house with restrooms, lockers and showers
~Concession stand and first aid room

Convenient location
The new state-of-the-art facility is conveniently accessible by DART bus routes and marks the second aquatic center to be built in Irving since 2008.
